I’ve shied away from using Gmail as a universal inbox, primarily because of the noise from mailing lists. I know I should set up lots of filters to capture and sort these things, but part of the value of Gmail for me (to the extent I use it) is that it’s a “fire and forget” inbox and I fits with my hoarder nature - I delete virtually nothing (except obvious spam). And the search lets me find whatever I need quickly without the initial hassle of setting up sorting filters. I’ve always been intrigued by Posterous though, so perhaps I should try it out…
